Plasma Desktop Design System: Migration to Penpot and New Features! Oct 2025

We're back with a huge update on the Ocean Design System for the Plasma Desktop! After months of development, we're officially moving away from Figma and fully migrating our assets to the powerful open-source design tool, Penpot!

In this video, we walk through the massive progress made possible by Penpot's new features, including the game-changing support for Variants! This allows us to group component states (like success, warning, with icon, etc.) for super fast and easy design.

We've also migrated the Ocean Design Systems Foundations Library—our colors, typography, shadows, and core shared components (like buttons, badges, and inputs) are now living in Penpot.

Catch the major announcements from Penpot Fest, including the new Skia-based rendering engine that will give us a huge performance boost!
