LIVE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS NBA DRAFT WATCH PARTY
The Cleveland Cavaliers stayed silent on the first night of the NBA Draft.
Round 2 will be different, with the Cavs slated to pick at 49 & #58.
Will Koby Altman draft two players? Trade the two picks for one higher pick? Trade a pick for future assets? All options are on the table for the Cavs who look to add talent to a team that won 64 games last season.
The 2024-25 NBA season is officially over. And, in classic NBA fashion, the offseason floodgates have already opened with multiple trades and countless rumors to keep track of.
It’s no surprise the Cleveland Cavaliers have already found themselves in a few reports. They have a massive spotlight on them as the current favorites to win the Eastern Conference, according to FanDuel. One more successful move could solidify the Cavs.
The Draft allows Cleveland to add talent for a low price. Finding a rotational player this deep into the order is nearly impossible, though. For that reason — the Cavs have numerous prospects and trade proposals to consider.
We’ll be doing our best to keep track of everything in one place.
Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com has shared his list of seven prospects the Cavs might be considering. A few of them have already worked out for the organization in the run-up to the draft.
The Athletic’s Law Murray theorized that the Cavs will target a center with at least one of their picks. This has long been one of Cleveland’s biggest needs, so it would only make sense if they took a flyer on this archetype.
Is anyone interested in trades? ESPN’s Brian Windhorst feels certain the Cavs will try to trade their second-round picks. Either to move up or out of the draft altogether. They could even package their picks with Isaac Okoro to dump his salary. Keep an eye out for this!
If you want to know who the Cavs have brought in for individual workouts, we have been keeping tabs. Jackson Flickinger covered this latest round while I handled the early reports in May.
Unsurprisingly, none of the players on Cleveland’s radar are ranking very high in mock drafts. Our friends at FanDuel have betting odds for who will be selected with each pick of the top 10. None of the current Cavs’ targets are even being considered here — unless they traded up. Michigan big man Danny Wolf could be a theoretical fit. He’s a +1000 to be selected 10th. This means he could fall later into the first round, which would only be relevant in the event that Cleveland moves up.
