Wai Hnin Pwint Thon | Standing Up Against the Military Junta
Wai Hnin Pwint Thon is the daughter of Ko Mya Aye, a prominent Burmese pro-democracy activist who was arrested in 1988 and 2007 for peacefully resisting military rule.
On February 1, 2021, Ko Mya Aye was arrested once again — and Wai Hnin’s passion for human rights and freedom sharpened.
At the 2021 Oslo Freedom Forum, Wai Hnin called out the Burmese military’s alarming intensification of violence since the February coup, and urged the international community to support the country’s struggle for peace, democracy, and freedom.
