A Bad Attempt At A Math Romance Poem (Explanation below)
A bit late for Valentine's Day, yet here's a quick vid calling out a failed attempt at making a romantic Calculus poem.
Explanation:
While the one who made the poem probably meant to say their love is infinite, they seemed to have forgotten that negative numbers exist.
Yes, if x approaches 0 from the right or positive side of the number line, 1/x would rise up towards positive infinity. However, if we approach from the other side of the number line, 1/x would grow in size yet plummet down towards negative infinity.
So, even if you consider tending to infinity as the limit existing . . . since tending towards positive infinity is different than tending towards negative infinity, we're still forced to say that the two-sided limit of 1/x as x approaches 0 does NOT exist. And I don't know about you, but saying “My love for you DOESN'T EXIST” really does not seem that romantic to me
