Tangerine Dream at Coventry Cathedral 1975 (full 90 min)

Edgar Froese, Peter Baumann and Christopher Franke inventing the future in October 1975.

An improvised performance: the first part can be heard on the Stratosphere Deluxe Edition and the rest is from an audience recording. Visuals are partly from the actual performance supplemented with a German tv appearance plus visualisations (they don't always match up).

The original Cathedral was bombed in 1940 and rebuilt around the ruins in a modernist style, strangely suited to the music, which could perhaps be described as a modern 'Dream of Gerontius'. On BBC Iplayer there is a documentary about Coventry Cathedral: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000wvm3/coventry-cathedral-building-for-a-new-britain
