ALL Mandalorian Clans Explained for Mandalorian Season 2!

In Mandalorian Culture, Mandalorians are organized into groups known as Clans. Usually these clans are based only on family connection, but in some cases, these clans can contain members that aren’t related or are even different species, like Clan Mudhorn, with Din Djarin and the Child. Each clan then further falls under a Mandalorian house, or a political faction which most aligns with their values.

So to start off, we have the most recently formed Mandalorian Clan in Canon, Clan Mudhorn.

Clan Mudhorn was formed during the New Republic era after a The Child, or Baby Yoda was able to save the life of Din Djarin, while he was engaged in a ferocious battle with a native beast from Arvala-7, the Mudhorn. Din Djarin now serves as the leader of Clan Mudhorn, with the Child becoming a founding member of the Clan. The signet of Clan Mudhorn was of course a depiction of the Mudhorn that the two defeated, marking the beginning of their very strong relationship. Since their clan was officially recognized by the armor inside of the dark Mandalorian enclave, the homeworld of Clan Mudhorn is Nevarro.

Next is Clan Vizsla.

Clan Vizsla is currently the oldest known Mandalorian Clan in Canon, being founded even before the modern Galactic Republic was created.

The earliest known member of Clan Vizsla was a force sensitive man named Tarre Vizsla. After Tarre Vizsla’s force sensitivity was discovered, he was very quickly inducted into the Jedi Order as the first Mandalorian to ever be allowed to join. During his time in the Jedi order, Tarre Vizsla created an incredibly unique, dark weapon, called the Darksaber. The darksaber quickly became a symbol of leadership for House Vizsla and eventually gave Tarre Vizsla the power to rule all of mandalore. After his death however, the Darksaber was very soon stolen out of the secure Jedi temple vault by Mandalorians from House Vizsla during the fall of the Old Republic, and were able to use it to viciously slaughter many Jedi.

By the time of the Clone Wars, all warrior Mandalorians, including Clan Vizsla, were exiled to the Moon of Mandalore, Concordia, where they were believed to have died out. The ones who did survive however, were able to form an extreme Mandalorian Group known as the Deathwatch, with the coal of overthrowing the pacifist leader of Mandalore at the time, Duchess Satine Kryze. Leader of this group, Pre Vizsla was the head of clan Vizsla, as well as house Vizsla because he held the ancient and prized Darksaber. Unfortunately, after working with former Sith Lord Darth Maul and his brother to continue with their plan to overthrow Duchess Satine, Maul challenged him to a traditional Mandalorian battle, where he was unfortunately defeated through a brutal beheading, making Maul the leader of House Vizsla, despite being an outsider. Following this, Maul led Mandalore with the help of his loyal Mandalorian Super Commandos and his top aides, Gar Saxon and Rook Kast, who’s clans I will cover very shortly.

Eventually however, the Republic, led by Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano invaded Mandalore, removing Maul from power following the brutal and horrific siege of Mandalore, once of the final conflicts of the Clone Wars.

Clan Vizsla unfortunately then went silent until deep into the Imperial era, where they resurfaced, voicing their support for Bo-Katan as the new holder of the Darksaber and the leader of Mandalore, after fighting back imperial occupation on their homeworld.

Following that, is Clan Kryze.

Clan Kryze was the ruling clan of Mandalore during the time of the Clone Wars under house Kryze, and was led by Duchess Satine. Also a member of the Clan was Bo-Katan Kryze, but she was of course loyal to the Deathwatch group, led by pre Vizsla.

After Clan Kryze was removed from power by the deathwatch and Clan Vizsla, Duchess Satine was eventually killed by Maul with the Darksaber.

Many years later, after the liberation from Imperial controlled Mandalore, the planet once again came under the control of Clan Kryze, but this time under House Vizsla, with Bo-Katan holding the darksaber and leading Mandalore.
Following that, we have Clan Awaud.

Not much is known about this ancient and very mysterious Mandalorian clan, but we do know that they were led by a man named Chieftain Nam Beroya at the beginning of the Clone Wars and were based on the planet Vlemoth Port. Clan Awaud was led by Nam Beroya until his supposed death, and was succeeded by his adopted daughter Vera Beroya, soon after, making her the new battle-hardened and fierce chieftain of the clan.
