The Immersive Experience: Asha Sairam is the Design Principal at Studio Lotus, an award winning interdisciplinary design and architectural practice.
For Sairam, design is an opportunity to make something complex, layered, and immersive, like solving a puzzle, and an opportunity to collaborate with different partners to achieve the desired result. “I thrive on challenges, and have a voracious appetite for learning”, says Sairam. She enjoys learning through the process of trying something new, something unfamiliar.
Sairam enjoys adaptive reuse projects where existing structures find new meaning for modern users while still sharing the memory of their earlier purpose. At the studio, they try to weave in regional crafts and techniques in their projects which helps to root the project in the context of the region. Moving forward, she would love to work on hospitality projects looking to create authentic and bespoke experiences for guests across global destinations.
