GM Motorama Moods 1953

General Motors created its own auto shows at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York city. These shows not only highlighted cars the public could buy but showed off dreamy concept cars, dubbed the Dream Cars, that set peoples hearts and minds racing.

We see TV host and singer Arthur Godfrey with former GM President C. E. Wilson (secretary of Defense under Eisenhower), current GM president, Harlow Curtice. The main focus is an elaborate stage show where the new cars for Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet and Oldsmobile are rolled out. GMs head of engineering, Charles Chayne demonstrates how engines work. A young couple is spied necking in the brand new Corvette. And Dream cars like the Pontiac Parisiene, the XM-100 and Buick Le Sabre are there to wow the crowd.
