WFIL-FM Legal ID 1
In the late 1960's, following the successful lead of its sister station WFIL in Philadelphia, the FM station, WFIL-FM began playing more popular music. The FM station naturally concentrated on the lighter popular hits of the day and branded itself POPULAR 102. Songs by the Mamas and the Papas, Neil Diamond, Dionne Warwick, Spanky & Our Gang, The Classics IV, The Vogues, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 were all staples of the format. Instrumentals mixed with vocals, the DJ announcements were recorded ahead of time, there were news headlines once an hour, and the station had the classiest jingles you ever heard on the radio from the great PAMS. Dave Klahr was the program director behind it all who later went on to launch WMGK and the "Magic" format.
This is a top-of-hour legal ID frequently heard on the station.
