Cruise News, What's Happened This Week?
- Princess Cruises have cancelled sailings on Regal, Sky, and Island princess until September to make way for new itineraries sailing from the UK. The voyages will be short and will only be available to guests from the UK. Itineraries will be launched later this month.
- Two crew members working onboard Royal Caribbean's newest cruise ship Odyssey of the Seas have tested positive for Coronavirus. It is not yet known whether this will delay the delivery of the ship but it is not expected to.
- Guernsey has announced that it will not open to cruise ships in 2021.
- Virgin Voyages have cancelled sailings until the end of June.
- P&O Cruises have cancelled cruises until the end of August to make way for new itineraries sailing from the UK. It is not yet known if vaccinations will be a requirement.
- Two US Senators have introduced a bill to congress with the aim of allowing cruise ships to visit Alaska without having to stop in a Canadian port. At present US law prevents cruises from sailing from the US without stopping in a foreign port. Canada have announced that they'll not be allowing cruise ships to dock in 2021, meaning that without a bill of this nature, the 2021 Alaska cruising season is over.
