They ruled the seas for millions of years as one of the most fearsome predators on Earth. But new estimates suggest gigantic megalodon #sharks were actually even bigger than previously thought – measuring up to 65ft (19.8 meters) in length rather than 50ft (15.2 meters). Growing to the size of a cricket pitch, it was the most massive shark species to have ever lived and was three times the size of today's largest great whites.
