Sophia got this toy as a birthday gift, and when she brought it to her room to play, I had a feeling Grace would want in.

I told Sophia that Grace would probably use it once or twice and move on, and offered to help set things up so Grace wouldn’t bother her. But Sophia wanted to handle it on her own.

I wanted to give her that chance, so I said no problem and reminded her I’d be happy to step in if she needed me.

Two minutes later… she called me in to mediate.

Now, Sophia and Grace have had plenty of practice taking turns and are usually fine these days—I don’t need to actively teach it much anymore.

But when it’s a brand new toy and motivation is high, I’d rather be proactive than deal with fighting later.
