HTTP Post Method in Visual Studio Code - 2/7 | Introduction to Web API with .NET Core

Learn how to work with the POST method in a Web API using C#! 🚀

In this video, we continue our API development series and build on what we learned in the previous lesson. We’ll start by updating our GET method to return all colors from a list instead of a single item by ID. Then, we’ll refactor our array into a generic list, allowing us to add new data dynamically.

Once the setup is complete, we’ll create a POST endpoint that accepts new color data and adds it to our list — with built-in validation to handle empty requests gracefully. Finally, we’ll test everything using the Postman extension in Visual Studio Code, sending both valid and invalid requests and verifying the results.

What you’ll learn:
✅ How to modify a GET method to return all data
✅ How to use a generic list in Web API
✅ How to build and validate a POST method
✅ How to test API endpoints using Postman
