What to Do If Someone Accesses Your Accounts Without Permission

If someone—whether a stranger or even a family member—has used your account or credit card without your permission, you have legal options under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA) and the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA). 

✅ Steps to Take: 
1️⃣ Report unauthorized transactions to your bank or credit card provider ASAP. 
2️⃣ Request an investigation and dispute the charges. 
3️⃣ If the financial institution won’t cooperate, hire an attorney to take legal action under EFTA & FCBA.
