Grindin' Gesaffelstein (Marty Spitfly Live Mash-Up)
Grindin' Gesaffelstein (Marty Spitfly Live Mash Up)
Live mash-up combining "Hellifornia" by Gesaffelstein & "Grindin" by Clipse
I was recently hipped to Gesaffelstein, a French electronic producer with some hype based on his work on beats for Yeezus. I went through Gesaffelstein's recent release Aleph, and was blown away. The album sounds mean, loud and big as hell! The sound had me trippin! I immediately bought the bespoke 2 Lp pressing of the record, and have been listening to the mp3's for most of the day. One of the early standout cuts, to me at least, is the song "Hellifornia". I couldn't help but imagine Above The Law or a young and hungry Ice Cube rapping overtop the menacing backdrop. After listening to the song a few more times, I though I'd try my hand at pairing it up with some vocals. I vividly recall hearing "Grindin" by The Clipse for the first time, with my jaw dropped and my neck snapped, it was a truly new sound at the time and affected me immediately, much in the same way "Hellifornia" has. Fittingly, the two songs sound really well together and the Clipse match the menacing projection of the beat.
