The $2.5 Billion Necklace That Went Missing

One of the most expensive and iconic pieces in jewelry history was lost… and then partially found in a thrift store.
The Patiala necklace, created by Cartier for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, disappeared in the late 1940s.
It had 2,930 diamonds. Today, the gems alone would be worth over $2.5 billion.
Cartier restored part of it years later — and you might’ve seen the choker version on Emma Chamberlain at the 2022 Met Gala.
But the rest? Still missing.
