“The Interview” by Reece Hallum

As part of the 100th ScreenDUNEDIN session, writer Reece Hallum brought in an early draft of The Interview for some creative development.

The script is a dark comedy centred around a deeply uncomfortable startup job interview that slowly reveals itself as something closer to a cult-like “high-trust environment” than a workplace. Across the session, actors rotated through multiple scene pairings and approaches, exploring tone, rhythm, tension, awkwardness, and the shifting power dynamics between Brad and Sam.

This upload features the final take from each actor pairing captured during the workshop.

One of the foci of ScreenDUNEDIN is to test material in the room and see what changes once actors, timing, and audience reaction enter the process. Following the session, Reece Hallum noted how valuable it was seeing the script come to life, and has already begun making revisions based on discoveries made during the class.

We hope to eventually shoot a more fully realised version of The Interview with additional production resources at a later date.
