Orchid bees have metal mating rituals
Orchid bees have an unusual and sometimes violent tactic for securing mates. Male orchid bees attract a beau with a potpourri of smells stored in the pockets in their hind legs. Other males who aren’t as good at making this scent bouquet respond by killing their competitor, tearing his perfumed legs off, and using the legs to attract their own mates.
