Outbox Pattern: Reliable Event Publishing in Microservices

In this lecture, we explain the Outbox Pattern, one of the most important patterns for building reliable event-driven microservices. You will learn why directly saving data to the database and publishing events to Kafka or RabbitMQ can cause consistency issues, and how the Outbox Pattern solves this by storing business changes and integration events in the same database transaction.

We will cover the full flow: creating the outbox message, processing it with a background worker, retrying failed messages, handling duplicate events, and applying idempotency in consumers. The lecture also includes practical examples using backend services, Kafka/RabbitMQ, and database transactions.
