Milaap Discover Roots: Fiji Girmit Roots Trilogy Film 1

Milaap-Discover Your Indian Roots is the first documentary film produced by Raivision Film. The film was Written, Directed and Co-produced by Dr Satish Rai with Anju Singh. The film follows former Fiji Senator Asha Singhs's visit to ancestral homes of her paternal and maternal grandparents in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) state of India. More that 6,000 indentured Indians were transported to Fiji from UP, making this state the largest contributor of indentured Indian workers (the girmitiyas) to Fiji. Thousands of Indians from UP were also transported to other colonies such as Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Guyana, South Africa, Jamaica and French Reunion.
This film takes you into the heart of UP and into the villages and homes of not Asha Singh but also a few other girmitiyas (transported to Guyana and Suriname). The film ends with a visit to some beautiful tourist sites of Delhi and Agra.
The Milaap Trilogy consist of Milaap-a Royal Discover and Milaap-the Land of South Indian Girmitiyas. We hope to bring to you these two films soon.
