The first steps for a spiritual seeker are probably taken uncertainly and without resolve - more an expression of curiosity or interest than passion or purpose.

We need to get a sense of what we are doing and why. Are we seeking? What for? How to know which way to direct our attention? Whom to trust, what to think? What does spirituality even mean? What does it take to move forward?

These questions are discussed, and to some extent answered from the perspective of western Sufism.
