Em todo final de ano, acontece o evento na Times Square da famosa bola descendo, indicando a chegada do novo ano. Para quem não vai presencialmente, a ABC exibe ao vivo a descida da bola com o programa "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest", exibido desde 1972 quando o apresentador Dick Clark comandava a atração até sua morte em 2011. Antes mesmo de sua morte, o programa teve como apresentador principal Ryan Seacrest, que segue até hoje no comando do programa
