SNAP expanded benefits and P-EBT(Pandemic EBT)
In response to the interest we got from the community to our P-EBT video we are going to cover some of the new and expanded benefits to the SNAP program. These benefits have been expanded in response to the recent pandemic. These new expanded benefits will help people get more resource and food during the lockdown. Today we are discussing some of these new expanded changes to SNAP and at the end, I will answer some of your questions about the P- EBT card from our previous video.

Snap Being affected by the Pandemic
· Families First Act provided the Agriculture Department (USDA) with authority and funding to let states modify procedures to make it easier for families to continue participating in SNAP:
· Temporarily suspended eligibility rules
· Create new temporary food programs
· Temporarily increase benefits to current SNAP beneficiaries
· Not all the states are the same but many of the states have took the opportunity to ensure some of the benefits that we are discussing to day.

Programs to discuss
Increased Emergency SNAP Allotment
· Increase SNAP benefits to meet Immediate rising need because of the pandemic
· Allows States, like California, to raise a households SNAP benefit to the maximum allowable amount
· Extended until the end of the declared disaster
· Chart does not include P- EBT money
· Houses already receiving the max amount will not receive more

Pandemic-EBT
· Provides a P-EBT card to families on top of normal benefits for each child
· For each eligible child, your card will be paid the following each month:
· March 2020: $68 per child
· April 2020: $120 per child
· May 2020: $120 per child
· June 2020: $57 per child
· Benefits last up to 1 year on the P-EBT Card
· The State estimates that it will issue $1.4 billion to 3,823,197 children for school closures extending from March 16, 2020 through June 12, 2020 a total of 64 days
· One group most affected by these changes are children who are part of the Medi-cal, Food Stamps, SNAP, Calfresh, EBT, or School Lunch program.

Suspension of work requirements
· Previously if an adult did not have children and was “able bodied” they could only get a max of 3 months of SNAP for every 3 years
· Temporary wavier of the 3 months for 3-year limitation for adults who do not have any children, because of pandemic
· This will continue until after the pandemic has been declared over.
· This is great news for folks who could use the help right now.

Pilot an online purchasing program
· List of states and which online retailers are acceptable -https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/online-purchasing-pilot
· Amazon and Walmart
· Benefits cannot be used to pay for fees of any type, such as delivery, service, or convenience fees
