Farmers Protested With Over 220 Tractors In Braunschweig/Treckerdemo

On 22.12.2023, farmers protested against the abolition of the agricultural diesel reimbursement and an end to the exemption from vehicle tax for agricultural machinery. A banner that the farmers showed as they drove through the city center read: “Farmer is looking for the future”. After thousands of tractors were supposed to pass through Berlin at the beginning of the week, farmers are now continuing their protest at the regional level. Farmers in Wolfsburg had already demonstrated on Wednesday before the game against FC Bayern .As part of the rally, a total of three convoys drove from the surrounding districts of Wolfenbüttel, Peine and Gifhorn to the Braunschweig urban area at 3 p.m., according to the police. As a meeting point, the convoys reached the Harz&Heide site on Eisenbütteler Straße between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. A total of 220 mostly agricultural vehicles were on the exhibition grounds.
