The Dow Theory is one of the most famous chart analysis methods. Originally created by Charles Dow and later developed by William P. Hamilton, the Dow Theory combines simple investor psychology with chart analysis to determine buy and sell signals. The goal of the theory is to allow traders and investors to take advantage of long-term movements of the market. Even though the theory is widely known, it has many flaws that are neglected by many of its users. The goal of this video is to lay out the basic principles of the Dow Theory for the purposes of education, and then expose the advantages and disadvantages of the method in general.
