If you are wondering if spending the big bucks on a pair of Andis AGC clippers is really worth it, then you're in the right place. Today I am clipping my American Cocker Spaniel's hair with my Andis ProClip AGC Pet Hair Clippers and comparing them to a Wahl pet pro clippers just to show the difference between a cheap VS expensive trimmer. I have been trimming dogs for years and have used both of these clippers many times.

First off, these clippers come in at a price tag of at least $170 (CAD) depending on where you are. The Wahl on the other hand comes in at about $50 and apparently more on amazon.
(wouldn't recommend buying from amazon).

The Andis clippers have a ceramic blade, are fairly quiet, and have removable blades that can be replaced with new/different sizes when the blades become dull. This particular clipper has one speed.

The WAHL on the other hand is metal blade and it significantly louder (my dog doesn't like the noise it makes).

After using the two, I have found that the WAHL (which apparently has self-sharpening blades but barely even cuts anymore) makes a loud noise that makes the dog uncomfortable, bunches up the fur, and gets pretty hot to touch after prolonged use.

The AGC is finally beginning to get slightly dull after close to 30 full dog grooms (a couple cats in there too!). Still, after all this time, it's cutting very well... not like new, but still VERY well.

I would give the AGC a 5 STAR RATING. It's fairly expensive but it makes grooming my dog as easy as possible. With it's interchangeable blades and LONG cord this is the trimmer I would choose to use over and over again I am not a commercial groomer but I did want a product that will last and this is that product.

I would rate the WAHL probably 2 STARS since it was cutting okay at first but now its barely even usable. It heats up a bit too much for my liking and it's noisy. Cheaper price tag but you get what you pay for.

Hope you enjoyed the review!

Here is the WAHL clippers seems like a newer model but I would imagine they are very similar.
