MTN Street Ink Review and Buff Test

----Summary----
The Street Ink mops and markers worked extremely well, especially because of their affordable price point. 200 ml refills are a few dollars cheaper than most I have come across and the performance was right in line with most everything else I have tested.

These wrote great on a painted concrete and wood surface. Drips were controllable but also present from the mops. The markers wrote smooth but did not have any drips despite having the same ink formula. The valve of the markers supplied a super smooth and consistently opaque line. It did require a pump or two ever 10 tags if the marker was kept horizontal. This is due to the ink having to fight against gravity to actually flood the nib. Not the end of the world as it was fixed with a few pumps.

Both the markers and mops wrote great on metal as well. Despite the very smooth surface the drips were still manageable. The buff test showed that the red ink stains very hard. It took 7-8 coats of paint to cover up the bleed through of the red ink. The black ink was much easier, and only required two coats. While writing on metal is was clearer that the red ink was slightly translucent. This is common with colored inks, but in the end just gave it a mildly dark red color.

My only complaint about the paint is the black ink’s ability to stain. The ability to stain is my main reason for using inks so if this were to be improved the Street Ink might just be perfect. The economic price point is always a huge plus for me, so if you have a chance you won’t be disappointed when trying this out.
