A drug that's been found to slow the progress of Alzheimer's disease by clearing proteins in the brain has been approved for use in Australia. The drug is not a cure and doesn't stop the disease from progressing, but it slows the rate of deterioration. It's the first time such a medication has been cleared for use in Australia; but there are already warnings that it will be too costly for most because it's not on the PBS.
