What I think would be really interesting to mention here is a reference to the ancient philosopher - Empedocles of Acragas, who made a notable idea that all things are made up of 4 elements. By virtue of corporeal substances (Love and Strive) these elements can link together and work as an unified whole. Could corporean substances be a "Linchpin" in the context of the song?
