The powerful shloka of Hanuman
There are many slokas and prayers to Hanuman or Maruti.
He is today one of the most popular gods of India and we can fond temples consecrated to him all over the country.
However, this sloka is unique as it was composed by Vyasaraja or Vyasatheertha (1480-1539), the previous avatar of Raghavendra Swamy.

Vyasaraja was the Rajaguru of six Vijayanagar Emperors, including Krishna Deva Raya (1509-1529). He was also responsible for single-handedly consecrating 732 idols of Hanuman.

The first idol of Hanuman he consecrated was the Yantrodharaka Hanuman at Chakratheertha in Hampi or Vijayanagar. This is supposed to be one of the most powerful Hanuman idols and it is believed that it was to this idol that Purandara Dasa’s son, Madhwapathi Dasa, fed food everyday.

Raghavendra Swamy visited Chakratheertha en route to Nava Brindavana. He prayed to the Yantrodharaka Hanuman and performed pooja.

Krishva Avadootaru, an ardent disciple of Raghavendra Swamy, spent years in a cave near this idol and Rayaru finally gave him darshan in person here.

This small sloka is very powerful and Vyasaraja himself has stated that if one utters this thrice a day for three weeks, his problems would be solved.

Even today, the Yantrodharaka Hanuman exists in Hampi. It is near the magnificent VijayaVittalaTemple. The Brindavana of Narahari Theertha, one of the four direct disciples of Madhwacharya, is located a little away.

It is generally believed that Vyasa Raja had his ashrama or house nearby. The house was gutted when the Muslim Kingdoms of the Deccan defeated Vijayangar in the battle of Rakasa Tangadi or Talikota in 1565 and sacked Hampi.

The house where Purandara Dasa and Kanaka Dasa lived too was in and around Chakratheertha. Today, there is no sign of that and Hampi is just a city of ruins. In fact, it is the largest open-air museum in the world.
