How to repair Pool Filter pipes

In this video we look at a DIY repair on cracked pipes from a pool pump and filter system. The installation was originally done by a local pool company. After less than 1 year, one of the joints has already cracked and another is dripping because of a poorly glued joint.

Upon closer inspection and having cleared the area in and around the pump and piping system, I found the entire motor to be partly resting on one triangular piece of broken tile. In fact, the entire weight of the motor was basically hanging / being supported by the pipe leading to the joint that had cracked. No wander the joint ended up cracking... it was subject to constant vibration, stress and the weight of the motor.

Once the area was cleaned, I could see that the pipe system, when originally previously installed, had been glued together and likely when the last few joints were glued, the didn't line up correctly so the pump would sit straight and level on a solid base... so it looks like the motor was just positioned in such a way to best align with the already glued pipes, and then debris was shoved under the motor in an attempt to support it.

It looks like a case of a job started with good intention, but rushed and poorly completed. Where is your pride man!!

As the saying goes... If you want something done properly, do it yourself (well, thats if you know what to do).

As i conducted the repair, i came across other small thing that need to be repaired or could be improved upon for longevity so I basically installed some temporary (5 year temporary 😂😂) replacement pipes and bends just to get the whole lot running again. For one, the motor should probably be bolted down to the concrete. If the video gets enough likes and shares, we can revisit this DIY and fix everything good and proper.

At a later stage, we can make a full repair and service.
