Looe's devastation after disastrous floods

Homes and businesses in a part of Cornwall just across the Tamar from Plymouth were devastated over the weekend. The clear-up operation is underway following a weekend of flooding caused by super high spring tides and rough seas.

Coastal communities saw sea levels rising above harbour walls and into the streets on Saturday and Sunday evening when the tides were at their highest. In Looe, one of the places worst hit by flooding, water levels rose to waist-high in the town centre whilst fish were seen swimming in a flooded pub in Mevagissey.
