Svans of north Georgia. Svans are ethnic subgroup of Georgians (Kartvelians) with peculiar distinct genetics & language of their own. Svanetia is historic region of mountaineous Georgia. Georgian (Svan) folk music. There are only 15.000 to 80.000 speakers of Svan language. Svan is the most differentiated member of the four Kartvelian languages, and is not intelligible with the other three (Georgian, Mingrelian and Laz).
