Blast on Beamer Rock next to Forth Road Bridge
The first test blasting to prepare the foundations for the Forth Replacement Crossing took place at the Beamer Rock next to the Forth Road Bridge at 12:35 on Monday 12 December 2011.
The Beamer Rock will form the base of the central tower of the new cable stayed bridge that is due to be completed by the end of 2016.
The Rock was until recently the site of a lighthouse, which has now been dismantled and put into storage until a new home for it is found.
