Thermal Modeling in Python: Using Collimator as a User Interface

In this video lecture, I demonstrate how to create and solve a simple thermal model of a building being heated with a space heater, but losing heat by convection to a colder ambient. I derive an energy balance and code it in Python using Collimator as a user interface. Collimator is a lot like Simulink, but for Python users. It allows users to create complex models with time varying inputs, but it makes it simpler through the creation of a block-diagram-based graphical user interface.
