Original Sin: An Esoteric Investigation

The church used it as a weapon of control and manipulation, but underneath is a very profound idea with immense implications for human nature. And yet, in our rejection of church evils, we tend to reject the entire idea of original sin. This is a mistake. It's a very real thing, but we would benefit from approaching it from an esoteric perspective. What is "original sin"? Where did it come from? What does it mean? How can we find evidence of it in our own psychology? And how can we use alchemy to correct it?
