The Six Dynamics in Dance Lesson - Swinging, Suspended, Vibration, Sustained, Percussive, Collapsed

This video is a tutorial that goes through a short explanation of each dynamic and then takes students through a short guided tutorial where they can experiment with the dynamic being taught through creative movement. Students can choose to either follow the instructor or experiment with their own movement to carefully selected music that complements each dynamic.

I have also separated each dynamic so they can be used as a brain break or for individual learning without the warm-up, game, and cool down so look out for the dynamics in dance playlist!

This is a great lesson to complement learning in a school classroom and for homeschoolers to help your students meet the needs of most dance curriculums. It is also a wonderful introduction to the concept of dynamics in movement for preschoolers and kindergartners as well.

I would also like to say dynamics in dance can be expressed in many different ways and depending on your flexibility and other factors you should hopefully be able to find many different ways other than just those that I have performed in this video - have fun exploring movement and what your individual body can do!
