5 Signs Your Dog Loves YOU A Lot!

1: Your Dog Wants To Sleep In Your Bed
You take your dog to the local pet store to try out all the different beds and make him lie on each one to see which is the most comfortable. He doesn’t like any of them so you go online and buy the top rated dog bed. Happily, you think you got the one that he’s happy with. But, after a few nights sleeping in his own bed, he wants to sleep on your bed rarely sleeps on the one you bought him. Well, This is a sign that your dog loves you very much. Since dogs are pack animals, they are used to cuddling up with their family when they sleep. What this means is that your dog sees you as part of his close knit pack. So be happy when you wake up to a dog paw in your face.

2: Your Dog Stares Deep Into Your Eyes
Have you caught your dog staring deep into your eyes? You should consider yourself lucky if you and your dog can maintain eye contact for longer periods of time. For dogs, usually longer eye contact means one dog is threatening or challenging the other dog. That’s why dogs will not maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds to potentially de-escalate a situation. So you might be thinking, why does this mean he loves me then? Well, in the context of the dog’s perceived family, maintaining eye contact means something very different. When you and your dog maintain eye contact, this shows that he loves you very much as he is very comfortable with you. In fact, when this happens, the “love hormone” oxytocin is released by you and your dog which is the same hormone that is released when newborns are held by their mothers

3: Your Dog Yawns After You Yawn
Have you noticed when you are at work later in the afternoon, one yawn is always followed by another? What about in university lecture class, when one cough is often followed by another one as well. Researchers continue to suggest that this phenomenon stems from the emotional connection of empathy, and the same is true among dogs and their owners. Well, next time you yawn, and your furry friend is beside you, check to see if he yawns or not. If he does, this could be another sign of the emotional bond you two share. An experiment conducted in the University of Tokyo revealed that dogs yawn after humans yawn but are much more likely to mirror a yawn when that human is their owner. This stems from the empathic relationship between you and your dog and it’s your dog saying that he understands your emotional needs.

4: Your Dog Stretches When He Sees You
Does your dog seem to do a greeting stretch when he sees you come back home?
Many believe that this stretch occurs because stems the dog, waking from a nap decides to stretch at the same time as your entrance but this is not the case. This stretch is your dog saying welcome home and is only reserved for people that he is very comfortable with and likes very much. There are two versions of this stretch. The first version is when your dog stretches his front legs and the second version is when he stretches his rear legs. At the same time, your dog will squint his eyes and pull his ears backwards. When he does this next time, make sure to give him a warm greeting as well.

5: Your Dog Greets You With His Favorite Toy
Does your dog bring his favorite toy immediately when he sees you walk in the door?
The first reason why your dog does this is because he is trying to tell you that he missed you while you were gone and in bringing a toy he wishes that you could give him some attention. The second reason is that he wants to show you he trusts you even with his most valuable possession. This is especially a big deal because dogs are very territorial so next time he brings that toy make sure you throw it at least once.
