Unos niños estaban jugando con él, había gatos en las inmediaciones, se buscó durante un tiempo largo el nido del que se había caido, o el piar de sus padres llamandole, no vimos ni escuchamos nada. Ante la posibilidad de que un animal lo cazase, o esos niños irresponsables regresaran, nos vimos con la obligación de rescatarlo y darle una 2ª oportunidad.
Solo en casos extremos como este se recomienda recogerlos y llevarlos a casa. Normalmente son polluelos que han caido o saltado de su nido, con el impedimento que tienen para regresar por no poder aún volar, sus padres le seguirán alimentando fuera del nido.
En el caso de Covi sabiamos con certeza que no sobreviría si le dejabamos en el lugar.
A pesar de los problemas de caza ilegal, herbicidas y fitosanitarios, es un ave en expansión, probablemente por su capacidad de adaptarse en los ambientes humanizados.
Esta es la historia de Covi, tal vez su destino estaba escrito. Fueron 23 días llenos de preocupación y zozobra, unos días que jamás olvidaré por las lecciones que recibí de un ave de apenas 20 gramos de peso.
