In this clip, Jemele Hill points out instances where Black people were robbed of building generational wealth for their family, including the Bruce Family, whose Manhattan Beach property was taken from them by city officials in 1924. When the family sued, they were given a paltry $14,500 for the property, which would be worth millions today. Jemele also pointed to Black WWII veterans being barred from accessing the GI Bill, providing them with benefits including low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans, and financial support.
