Finally freed from the shackles from Marvel’s King in Black event, SWORD gets to fully explore its status as one of the X-Men offices most exciting comics, as well as its place in Al Ewing’s Marvel Space Age, in conjunction with his run on Guardians of the Galaxy. In SWORD #5, the story is split between Fabian Cortez’s thoughts on human murder before the Krakoan Quiet Council, and SWORD’s involvement in the galactic Snarkwar.

I’m really loving how thoroughly integrated Ewing’s grasp of Marvel Cosmic feels, where elements in SWORD are simultaneously part of the Guardians universe, and make sense within the Reign of X. It’s a frankly incredible balancing act.
