Should work on both GBC and MGB. Yeah, glue is an option too but only if you didn't lose the part that broke off. Only other source that I know of is to just salvage another power switch. Game Boy Color and Game Boy Pocket both use the same part and so you can salvage the switch from one for the other. Game Boy Light uses a completely different part and is not compatible with any other models.

Alternatively, a neat mod would be to just replace the power switch entirely with solid state components and just a mosfet and a couple transistors (maybe just one transistor) and make it pushbutton on and off like the DS models and newer.
