Rebel Girl... 2024 (Covered by The Hawkbirds)

The Hawkbirds covering the Bikini Kill track, "Rebel Girl". with the kid on bass.

The song, written by Kathleen Hanna, reportedly inspired by the influential feminist artist Juliana Lueckinge. The song first appeared on the split LP that the group shared with fellow riot grrrl band Huggy Bear in early 1993.

This cover was recorded on 2/23/24 in our basement studio, on 5 separate tracks (vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar, bass drum, and overhead drums) using a Zoom H6 audio interface, and mixed with GarageBand. The sound is much better than the iPhone that we had been using! However, the toms were not picked up by the overhead drum mic, so we added a separate mic for all tracks going forward.
