Winter Finch Invasions
A Winter Finch Invasion? On Halloween? Feels a little eerie…...but don’t worry, it’s actually perfectly natural! In fact, this invasion of birds — also known as an irruption — is the largest to happen in more than a decade. And irruptions on this scale don’t happen just anywhere. For birds to be seen in these numbers, they need a healthy, intact forest to support them. Which is exactly what the boreal provides.
So don’t be spooked — if you see an irruption of birds in the sky, think of it as a reminder of just how special the Boreal Forest is, and why we need to protect it.
