Hong Kong Airlines Flight HX115 Diverts After Overhead Compartment Fire
A Hong Kong Airlines Airbus carrying 168 passengers was forced to divert to Fuzhou after a fire broke out in an overhead luggage compartment at 10,000 meters (32,800 feet).
Passengers claim that the airline’s response was inadequate, with fire extinguishers allegedly empty or missing, delaying their attempts to put out the flames. Video footage shows passengers using bottled water and juice in an effort to stop the fire.
Fortunately, the fire was successfully extinguished, and the aircraft landed safely in Fuzhou.
Hong Kong Airlines has not yet issued an official response regarding the incident.
