Jennifer Lawrence Repaid the Gas Station Owner Who Helped Her at 19

In 2009, 19-year-old Jennifer Lawrence moved to L.A. with no money and slept in her car between auditions. A gas-station owner, Mr. Patel, noticed her washing up in his restroom at dawn and gently asked if she was living in her car. When she admitted it, he told her to come every morning free coffee, bathroom, a place to charge her phone. Years later, after winning an Oscar and becoming worth millions, she tracked him down, bought the $3.2 million station and signed it over to him. "I only gave you coffee," he said.
Jennifer replied, "You gave me dignity when I felt invisible."
