Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Thule Force 3 Rooftop Box, and we're gonna see how it works with our 2024 Jeep Wagoner. Now rooftop cargo box is an excellent way to transport any of that extra gear or equipment you're taking with you on your journey, if you can't fit it or don't want it riding with you in the vehicle. Some examples of some things we could carry up there would be if you're out camping, you know maybe the tent, sleeping bags, tarps, things like that can go in there on the way there and on the way home after they get a bit dirty and things like that. This is tall enough and wide enough you could fit maybe a couple of standard sized golf bags in there and you know, anything else that you might want to take with you, that just won't fit in the vehicle. Another thing is that the Wagoner carries a lot of passengers. You might run outta room for luggage, which is something we could store up there as well.

It's gonna weigh about 34 pounds, so make sure you factor that in with the weight of your cargo when figuring out your rooftop capacities. It's gonna give us 11 cubic feet of storage, and it's built in a way that it is a little taller and a little narrower, which is gonna leave us a lot of extra room on the other side of our bars if we wanted to mount something else there, like a bike rack or a kayak carrier or something along those lines. It is able to be open from either side however, I generally recommend that you mount these on your passenger side, just in case you need to pull over somewhere and get something out of it in a pinch. This roof box is clamp mounted and it's gonna work on any of your arrow bars, square bars, round bars, and most factory bars as well. You're going to get a set of keys with the lock so it's gonna be able to keep all your cargo secure.

That also is gonna keep the clamps secure onto your roof box so nobody can come and take the box either. The other special thing about this, is this kind of diamond texture that it has on this matte finish. That diamond texture is gonna be excellent for hiding any of those scratches and things like that, that you get along your journey. Rooftop boxes can take a little bit of a beating from low hanging branches and things like that, especially if you're driving around in the countryside. But we have it positioned in a way that it is exactly in the center of our bars.

Now the flush rails on the Wagoner have a fixed position for the bars, so you can't really move them forward, move them back, or spread 'em out or make 'em narrower so these are where your bars are gonna sit on the wagoner. And if you set it up just dead here in the middle, honestly, you got plenty of room in the front where it's not really coming out over your windshield and you've got more than enough room in the back here to get your lift gate open. So we're gonna go up on the roof and check out inside the box but before I do, I just wanna mention we do have some overhang to our bars here, and while it is possible to mount it so that one set of the clamps is out here on the overhang, I don't necessarily recommend it. If it's too far out, even if you're getting up here into your door threshold and if this was all the way here in my face, it's gonna be really hard to maneuver it, and actually get in and out of it. I would actually recommend putting it just inside the towers so that I'm not like leaning back like this as I'm trying to reach in, that could be a little bit dangerous.

And one other thing that I do wanna recommend is a little item that I always suggest people get whenever they're dealing with a larger vehicle in any kind of rooftop cargo and that's the Moki Door Step. This is a really, really simple little apparatus that deploys just like this. You're gonna have a rubber padded hook here that's gonna go right inside the loop for our door latch. And this is gonna create a platform to step up on with a 400 pound capacity, and it's gonna give us a lot of extra leverage as we're getting up into our rooftop box. So from up here, we can see inside the box, it tapers a little bit to both sides, and while the bottom portion is. You know, looks fairly shallow from here, the top portion is really, really deep, which gives us that extra room to be able to, you know, put
