7 - Opportunity Costs
Jennifer Whyte, a lady who was, shall we say, a professional of sorts, was offering her unique "services" to willing customers. One evening, Jennifer's client had a change of heart. Maybe it was the guilt, or perhaps he realized he was short on cash, who knows? The point is, he decided he didn't want those services anymore. Instead, he handed Jennifer a meager fifteen pounds to cover her taxi fare.
6 - Shoeless Joe?
For six years, a sneaky bandit crept around a neighborhood in Australia, sticking to a roughly 15 mile radius. He had a peculiar preference for targeting shoes left outside people's front doors. Now, you've got to wonder, what kind of mental disorder makes someone sniff around only for shoes, especially stinky old work boots?
5 - Take Me Back!
Abay Holmes back in 2020 was a 21-year-old former college football player. He decided to pose as a homeless 14-year-old named Awan Thomas, conning a kind hearted woman into taking him in. Abay started by convincing an unnamed woman from Milledgeville, Georgia, that he was a homeless teen in need of shelter.
4 - Way Too Nice
Imagine you meet someone through mutual friends, and they tell you they've got terminal brain cancer. You're kind-hearted, so you open your home and heart to this stranger, thinking they're on their last days. That's what happened to Linda and Steve Evans in Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
3 - ‘Students for Trump’
John Lambert, who was fresh out of college, decided he was going to embark on a career in law. But he never actually went to law school. Lambert was just a regular guy, well, as regular as anyone can be when they're starting a fake lawyer gig. He hailed from Knoxville, Tennessee, and created a website for a non-existent law firm called Pope & Dunn.
2 - Fajitas For Cheap
A delivery driver had an unusual encounter when he arrived at the Cameron County Juvenile Detention Center with a hefty 800-pound load of fajitas. To his surprise, the kitchen staff at the detention center questioned the delivery. Why? Because they had never served fajitas to the young residents there. But the driver claimed he'd been making these fajita deliveries to the facility for about nine years.
1 - Destroying MoneyIn Australia, a group of alleged criminals devised an unusual scheme: smuggling damaged Australian coins back into the country and laundering them through Smart ATMs. You might be thinking, "Who in their right mind goes through all that trouble for a bunch of coins?" Well, these coins were worth over a million dollars.
