Safari of My Life - Beyond the Masai Mara
Five years after filming "Safari of my Life" with Klaus Tiedge, Sandra with the children and Dean Paarman are returning to the Masai Mara and Angama Lodge for a reunion as originally planned in 2018. With Klaus not being there physically it's also a trip dedicated to find a bit of closure, to cherish the memories with Klaus and to celebrate life as such - Sandra gives a very personal insight and opinion how this trip has been for her and what she takes forward....
safari is actually like an analogy of life.
It’s a reflection of life’s uncertainty and choices. It’s unpredictable. You can’t control which animals you’ll encounter and if you would get a great photo out of the situation.
It challenges you; when you do spot an animal: do you stay and observe or move on in search of something else?
But it was a few weeks later when it really struck me.
We were already back home and I was about to write down my experiences and highlights of our time spent together when I all saw it so clearly.
The most important part I take forward is: Acceptance.
Acceptance of what is and to cherish the now.
Easier said than done. But the past few years have taught me exactly this.
You can’t predict which animals cross your path on a safari, so you can’t predict the twists and turns that life will take and what challenges we might face.
But you may choose how to deal or work with it.
Sometimes, the animal you encounter may not be what you expected, but it’s important to fully embrace and appreciate the present moment.
In life, accepting and finding beauty in the current situation, even if not what you originally desired, can lead to a deeper sense of contentment and happiness.
Safari means journey.
It’s not the goal of animal sightings and if you get a great photograph out of it. Some of the most memorable moments on safari come from the unexpected encounters. What mostly stays with us is the unplanned.
In essence, the analogy of animal sightings on a safari serves as a reminder that life is a dynamic and unpredictable journey. We have the freedom to make choices, but we must also find acceptance and appreciation for the diverse experiences and encounters that come our way. Ultimately, it’s about navigating the safari of life with an open heart and a willingness to embrace beauty of the unknown.
I will keep Klaus’s story alive and his works available for others to explore.
And while I explore the safari of my own life, Klaus is and will always be part of the journey.
