The Raspberry Pi 5 comes with a new PCIe that is exposed to the user and is now able to use different hardware attached to tops (HAT's). Be aware that there are differences in the Raspberry Pi HAT's designs. There is a HAT Kit that comes with a M.2. The other one does not.
